John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who specialized in folk music, touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a native of New Mexico. musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs for his home state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with this honor in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. And when you say that you are Colorado-based, Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew the song would be one of the Top 10 hits. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer made a recording a few days afterward.
